OpenCircuit

In Development

A local-first workspace for wiring, firmware, and electronics prototypes.

Project Overview

OpenCircuit helps makers and embedded developers keep a circuit, firmware, component list, and project history together. It connects visual wiring to real Arduino compilation and supported simulation workflows on the developer’s own computer.

Features

  • Visual wiring with editable component layouts and named connections.
  • Arduino firmware compilation, USB upload and serial monitoring workflows.
  • Project snapshots, differences and rollback, plus a bill of materials and procurement planning.
  • Chinese OLED glyph preparation, supported Arduino Uno digital simulation, and Wokwi project export.

Technical Architecture

  1. Workspace

React and React Flow provide the visual wiring canvas and editing interface.

  2. Local service & tools

A localhost Node.js API, file watcher and CLI share a TypeScript core for project validation, snapshots and materials.

  3. Firmware

Arduino CLI compiles firmware; AVR8js executes supported Uno digital simulations. ESP32 projects can be exported to Wokwi.

Development Status

In Development

The repository documents an implemented development prototype. Native ESP32 circuit simulation is not integrated. Physical-board validation and Windows/macOS acceptance remain separate from successful compilation and browser tests.

Evidence & attribution

Private project README and development screenshot reviewed 2026-10-10. Only the approved screenshot and high-level descriptions are published; source and local configuration remain private.
