ESP32-NetUnlocker

Public source · Experimental

An ESP32 networking experiment with a captive portal, DNS proxy, and NAPT-based traffic forwarding for authorized research.

Hardware concept
Hardware concept illustration — not a photograph of a tested device.

Technical architecture

  • Arduino firmware uses WiFi, WebServer, WiFiUDP, and esp_netif.
  • The ESP32 operates as an upstream Wi-Fi station and a local access point.
  • An onboard portal controls the DNS response mode; NAPT forwards traffic through the upstream connection.

Current work & outcomes

  • A public Arduino sketch and bilingual setup documentation.
  • A browser portal served directly by the ESP32.
  • An experimental DNS and traffic-forwarding implementation, with MIT-licensed source.

Development status

A research prototype, not a production router. A physical-device photograph and measured hardware demonstration have not been published here.
